Troubleshooting Screen Issues in Motorola Moto E4 Plus

If you notice screen issues (such as blank or black screen, as screen displaying inverted or missing colors, distorted images, etc.) in your Motorola moto e4 or other similar devices, use the following steps to fix the problem.

Perform an Unresponsive Reset

In cases where your Motorola moto e4 doesn’t power on or seems to have a black, blank, or unresponsive screen, use the following steps to restore the device to a stable, usable state.

The first step to take is to restart your Motorola moto e4 plus™ to see if it fixes any of the annoying screen issues.

Since the Motorola moto e4 plus™ uses a non-removable battery, you can use the soft reset (restart) process to simulate a battery removal when your device doesn’t respond, freezes or doesn’t power on.

Please note: Although, it’s rare, restarting your Motorola moto e4 plus™ may affect data (such as cached data, backup in progress, etc.).

There are 2 recommended methods to soft reset your Motorola moto e4 plus™.

First Method

Step 1: Press and hold down the Power button on the right edge of your device.

Step 2: Tap Power off and restart your device.

Step 3: Tap Restart to confirm.

If your device won’t power back on, charge the device for some time and then retry.

If the device is unresponsive, use the second method below.

Second Method

Step 1: Press and hold the Power button (on the right edge) and the Volume Down button (on the left edge of your device) simultaneously (at the same time) for approximately 5 seconds until the device switches off.

Step 2: Release the buttons once the device powers off.

Step 3: Leave the device for some seconds to complete the reboot process.

If your device won't power back on, charge the device partially then try again.

How to Resolve Frozen, Unresponsive Screen Issues in Motorola Moto E4 Plus™

When your Motorola moto e4 plus™ is stuck on startup screen, or does not complete its power on cycle, the following steps will help you rectify these issues.

Enable Safe Mode

Safe Mode returns your phone to default settings and switches your phone to a diagnostic state. In safe mode, you can determine if a third-party app is actually responsible for your device freezing, or running slow.

How to enable safe mode in Motorola moto E4 plus™

With your device powered off, press and hold the Power button until the moto logo appears then release.

About 2-3 seconds after the moto logo appears on the display, press and hold the Volume down button.

If you press the button too soon, your device won’t boot into safe mode.

Continue to hold the Volume down button until “Safe mode” appears in the lower-left of the screen then release.
